Capitolare Library
This library, situated in Piazza Duomo 13,

517.
It contains more than 1500 manuscripts, first editions, codices, scrolls,
miniatures, prestige bindings, and musical works dating prior to 1630.
Particularly precious are the fifth century '"Evangelarium Purpureum",
St. Augustine's The City of God, the collection of choir books for
the cathedral, and a rare 15th century edition of the Divina Commedia.

Juliet's Tomb and the Fresco
Museum
Juliet's tomb is located within the ex-convent of San
Francesco al Corso, which belonged to the Cappuccine order
in the 13th century. This is where, according to tradition, the tragic
conclusion to Shakespeare's events took place.
The ex-convent is pervaded by an intensely romantic atmosphere, and
so the town of Verona has made a frescoed room available for civil
weddings (including those of foreigners), under the auspices of "Verona,
city of love". The museum contains frescoes from Verona's churches
and palaces, removed from their original sites in the 19th century.
Opening Hours: 8:15 am to 7 pm. Closed Monday.
Admission: L. 5000, groups L. 3000, students L. 1500
Natural History Museum
The museum is housed in the 16th century Pompei
Palace,
a building planned by Sanmicheli. More than two million objects are
housed here. These artifacts are arranged in the following sections:
botanical, geological and paleontological, prehistorical and geological.
One of the major attractions is the "Hall
of fossil fish and plants from Bolca"
a collection of perfectly conserved items from over 50 million years
ago.
Opening Hours: 8 am to 7 pm, Sunday 1:30 pm to 7 pm. Closed Friday.
Admission: L. 4000, groups L. 2000, students L. 2000. |
