Welcome to Milan
About the City

Fashion,
finance, food and football - all synonymous with the sophisticated and
stylish city of Milan. The world's design and fashion capital, Milan
is also home to the Italian stock exchange and most of the country's
important corporations are headquartered here.

Milan is divided into 20 zones, identified numerically by the local
council. Each zone has characteristics that make them quite easy to
distinguish from each other, often due to the history of those who settled
in each of the districts.

Visitors often find its modern face less appealing than more obviously
historic cities like Venice and Florence. Yet the city's sights include
the magnificent Gothic cathedral, the world-class Brera Art Gallery,
Leonardo's Last Supper and the Scala.

But
Milan has in stored many other beautiful things behind the stage. Masterpieces
can be found in the small, hidden churches, Roman basilicas, restaurants
housed in restored manufactories, Liberty ornaments and unusual shops.

And
of course, Milan is all about fashion, so make sure to window shop at
least if you cannot afford the clothes!
